A graphic novel, written and illustrated by Neda Moridpour and Pouya Afshar, delves into the life and culture of Iranian immigrants in Los Angeles, CA, a city that is home to over half of the Iranian immigrant population in the United States. The term ‘Tehrangeles’ emerges from the fusion of Tehran, the capital of Iran, and Los Angeles. The novel seeks to blend sociological insights on immigration with a nuanced exploration of race, moving beyond the conventional black/white binary. Simultaneously, it offers a critical examination of the pervasive Aryan/Caucasian myth that exists within Iran and its diaspora.
